Software Developer

Oracle Netsuite | Sep - Dec 2021
  • Implemented bulk retrieval API written in Java, reducing total number of API calls by a minimum of 100%
  • Migrated 80 integration tests from Kotlin to Java to facilitate the rapid and accessible development of tests across the team
  • Engineered a PoC to generate Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) summary tables with SuiteAnalytic APIs to ensure compatibility of the feature within new product

Full Stack Developer

SS&C Technologies | Sep - Dec 2020
  • Integrated Maven Release plugin, Vault for secrets configuration, and Veracode scans for testing into a release pipeline to deploy production-ready Angular and Spring Boot applications, to be used as a standard template for future release pipelines
  • Configured an Ansible Playbook template to automatically connect to the Prometheus monitoring system and abstracted common connection steps into an inheritable task for any pipeline, reducing monitoring setup time from weeks to hours.
  • Implemented a responsive financial report summary page in Vue and hooked report summary REST API calls to the application, decreasing time spent on calculating client’s financial information for call centre workers.

  • Designed and developed a production-ready end-to-end Angular web application from scratch in three months.
  • Implemented several RESTful API endpoints using Java and Spring and integrated all of them to the front-end application.

  • Proposed and demoed a XWiki knowledge base to senior management and was approved to become a future project, saving the company $500,000 yearly once the project would be completed.
  • Delivered a proof of concept using Java, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka and Apache Geode to read and store documents into a PostgreSQL and MongoDB database.

  • Optimized the automation code base by adding more user functions to improve the conversion rate of manual test cases to automated ones by 40%.

Waterloop

Worked on redesigning the website. The entire front-end is created using React, Redux and TypeScript.

Personal Website

Developed a personal website to display my portfolio. I used this experience to learn web development and to have a better grasp of JavaScript. I used plug-ins like Owl Carousel and Formspree and learned how to read and integrate third party libraries into my projects.

Poke-Help

A PokéDex website that allows users to access information of their favourite Pokémon using Poké-API. This Angular project was my first attempt at web development and helped me learn more about the framework and web development in general by implementing some advance features like lazy loading. Ocra

Developed at HackThe6ix, this project was my first step into mobile development, specifically Android development. We designed and created a mobile application that allows users to take a price tag and get a list of stores that sell the item in descending price order. I learned a lot about Android development and refined my skills in Java.

Handwriting Auto-correct

A MakeUofT Hackathon project where I helped design and develop a handwriting correction tool. This tool provides appropriate suggestions on spelling using a variety of technologies, like Tesseract for OCR and TextBlob as our NLP machine learning model. This project helped me learn about what machine learning is, and how to integrate all the different technologies into one working project.

Moorse-code Translator

A group project in which I help design and develop a Morse code translator. The project was controlled using an Onion Omega microcontroller, which used LED Lights to send Morse code sequence and detected sequences using photoreceptors.

Hi everyone! My name is Stephen Lin. I am currently a 4B Waterloo student studying Computer Engineering. As you scrolled through my site, you may noticed that most of my development experience has been full-stack. However, I am also open to all types of new learning opportunities.
